Before step one: You are using a Web browser, such as Internet Explorer, to view Help. For all procedures, switch back to Internet Mail and News by clicking one of its windows or choosing it on the Finder menu before you do step one. |

Sorting the address book
- If the address book is not open, choose Address Book from the Windows menu.
- On the Edit menu, point to Address Book, and then choose New User. Use the Tab key to quickly move through the following fields.
- In the First Name box, type the first name of the person. If you are adding a user with only one name, such as a company, type the name in the First Name box and leave the Last Name box empty.
- In the Last Name box, type the last name of the person.
- In the E-mail Address box, type the e-mail address. For example: Bob@company.com
- In the Description box, type any descriptive text, such a title and company, street address, or birthday, that you want.
- Click Save.

Opening the address book
- Open the message that is from the person you want to add to the address book.
- On the Edit menu, point to Address Book, and then choose Add Sender To Address Book.

Reading a mail message
- If the address book is not open, choose Address Book from the Windows menu.
- On the Edit menu, point to Address Book, and then choose New Group.
- In the Group Name box, type a name for the group.
- In the Description box, type a description for the group.
- In the User box, type the name of an entry in your address book. As you type, entries in the address book that match what you are typing are automatically filled in. You can also drag users from the address book to the Group window.
- Click Add.
- Repeat steps 5 and 6 for every user you want to add to the group.
- Click Save.
Note
- If you add a new user to the address book while a group window is open, that user will also be added to the group.

- If the address book window is not open, choose Address Book from the Windows menu.
- In the Search box above the user/group list, type the name of the user or group you are looking for. As you type, only the names that match what you have typed will be visible.
- To search for a user in a group, double-click the group to open it, and then type the user name that you are looking for in the Search box. As you type, only the names that match what you have typed will be visible.
- To show the entire list of users and groups again, delete the text in the Search box.

Sorting the address book
- If the address book window is not open, choose Address Book from the Windows menu. If you want to sort a group, double-click the group to open it.
- Click the column heading you want to sort by.
- To switch the sort order between ascending and descending, click the triangle in the column heading again.

- If the address book is not open, choose Address Book from the Windows menu.
- In the Address Book window, select the user or group you want to delete.
- On the Edit menu, choose either Delete User or Delete Group. The available Delete command reflects the type of item you select in step 2.
- To delete a user from a group, double-click the group to open it, select the user you want to delete, and then choose Delete User From Group on the Edit menu.
Note
- Deleting users in the address book will also remove them from any groups they belong to.

- On the Edit menu, point to Address Book, and then choose Edit User/Group.

Eudora Pro and Eudora Light
- On the Windows menu, choose Address Book.
- On the File menu, choose Import Address Book.
- In the Import dialog box, find System Folder: Eudora Folder: Eudora Nicknames.
- Click Open.
Claris Emailer
- Double-click the Claris Emailer application icon to start it.
- On the File menu, choose Export Addresses.
- In the dialog box, click Desktop.
- In the Specify The Export File box, type a name for the file.
- Click Save.
- On the File menu, choose Quit.
- If Internet Mail and News is not running, double-click its icon to start it.
- On the Windows menu, choose Address Book.
- On the File menu, choose Import Address Book.
- In the dialog box, click Desktop.
- Locate the file you exported from Claris Emailer.
- Click Open.
Netscape Navigator
- Double-click the Netscape Navigator application icon to start it.
- On the Window menu, choose Address Book.
- On the File menu, choose Save Address Book As.
- In the dialog box, click Desktop.
- In the Save Address Book File box, type a name for the file.
- Click Save.
- On the File menu, choose Quit.
- If Internet Mail and News is not running, double-click its icon to start it.
- On the Windows menu, choose Address Book.
- On the File menu, choose Import Address Book.
- In the dialog box, click Desktop.
- Locate the file you exported from Netscape Navigator.
- Click Open.
You can also use an external translator, included with Internet Mail and News, to import Navigator addresses and mail messages. See the Read Me for more information.
Internet Mail and News
- On the File menu, choose Import Address Book.
- Find the address book you previously exported from Internet Mail and News.
- Click Open.
Notes
- User groups are not imported.
- You can also drag a user name from the address book in Netscape Navigator and Claris Emailer to the Internet Mail and News address book.
